White Wednesday

More beautiful white blooms from our garden for this White Wednesday post.

The smell of the white lilacs is every bit as sweet and strong as our old fashioned purple lilacs, heavenly to be sure.

White Wednesday

I'm joining Kathleen at Faded Charm for White Wednesday this week. I have one of Mom's white pineapple afghans she has made. They are 12 block afghans and are perfect to curl up with during these cold winter months. This particular one will be a wedding present for a friend's son.

We Really Got Snow

After listening to the winter storm watches and warnings all week for this past weekend the snow finally started around 11:00 on Friday morning as flurries and continued through the afternoon. About 4:00 it started getting very heavy and covering the roads and appeared to be accumulating faster and faster - at least to us, who are not used to much if any snow during our winters. By the time it finished on Saturday morning we had about 5" on the ground and no ice.

We had such a cold and beautiful weekend with all the snow and since none of us had to get out and go to work on Saturday it was enjoyable. Jennifer did have to work Sunday and had trouble getting out of her drive so Mom and I shoved it during the afternoon so the sun could melt it and she could get out on Monday with no problems.

We had no mail delivery on Saturday but Mom had to check just to make sure later in the day. She put on Alan's big ole boots and shuffled her way to the mailbox and back. It was a sight to behold.

Foggy White Wednesday

Freezing Fog Mornings

what a way to start the week

on the way to work

sounded like freezing rain at times

the one clear spot in the fog
still not melted from the past 2 weeks of extreme cold

White Wednesday

We Got Snow

only 1/2" but that is enough for us

benches covered

doves watching over the garden

birth baths we forgot to take down full

little pond covered up

It started snowing around 8 am Thursday morning and snowed all day. We finally had about 1/2" by the end of the day with snow flurries all day Friday and Saturday. We might have ended up with maybe 1" by Sunday morning. Everything looked so beautifully pristine white. After an extremely cold past 10 days we are starting to warm up again and the snow will disappear hopefully until next year.

White Wednesday at Jennifer's House

We thought Sunday afternoon was going to be another beautiful sunny day so we planned on painting at Jennifer's so her house would be ready for winter since Mom finished the painting on our house and we had left over paint. We did get it painted but never did see the sun come out - nothing like a cool cloudy day to make one's paint brush move faster and faster.

finished and ready for winter

White Wednesday

This Wednesday I have some black and some white. I'm showing a few of my swans I have collected over the years along with 2 cross stitch pictures my daughter stitched for me in Christmas' past.

1st picture she cross stitched for me was this gorgeous black swan
she still lived at home at the time and managed to keep it a complete secret

black swan figurine I found at the Royal Dutch

my 2nd second cross stitched picture from Jennifer, these beautiful white swans
she had her home by this time so I didn't know anything about them either
