I Won & Birthday Present

I won one of Cyndi's fabulous give-a-ways from Blue Bird Swing. Along with the Snowman Wall Hanging from Pumpkin Berries Stitchery she included note cards, a note pad and post-it notes. All very much needed and a wonderful Cadbury chocolate bar. Love it all and thanks so much for the extras.

I also treated myself to some of Donna's art work from Morning Dove Cottage with my birthday money. Got this gorgeous peony tray and note cards. I've always admired her art work and now have a piece for myself. Love it, love it, love it.

Thrift Find & Finally Organized

A thrift store has opened up down the road from work and I finally seen their sign and stopped a couple of weeks ago. While there I noticed this great filing cabinet and asked the price. The little ole guy said $45 but if I would come back on the following Tuesday it would be 1/2 price. I couldn't wait for Tuesday to get here and low and behold no one had bought it.

Mine
my awesome bargain for $22.50

folded the legs up and the tabletop fit perfectly
and the rolling cabinet will roll right out of the way

my latest find at TJ Maxx
perfect for some of my scissors and accessories

looks so good above the bookcase

everything finally has it's own place
material for quilting out of the way
I really love all these roll around cabinets

cast iron hat rack finally has a resting place
will be great for little baskets and ribbons

view of my awesome new corner
even left room for the spare bed to the left

another rolling cabinet for odds and ends
only have a small stack of books and patterns
left to sort and file

bookcase for hardback books
needlepoint, cross stitch, quilting and gardening
pretty boxes for special threads and bookmark supplies

I love working in my corner now. I just need to make labels for the drawers so I can remember where I have put everything since nothing is even close to where it used to be. It is amazing to be able to see what you have instead of going through totes to try and find something only to realize you need the bottom tote instead of the top one. I even have room for more stash. Can't get any better than that!

Garden & Car Woes

This past weekend was beautiful, sunny and hot. We were in the high 80s and no rain at all. What a nice change. We managed to get the yards mowed, some plantings done and created enough sweat to water some flowers. On Sunday the wind did not stir at all, made for a very hot and humid day, just like the middle of summer. Supposed to stay this way all week.

might help if the wind would blow

the deer and moles are loving it

Mom's and Alan's garden
tomatoes and beans looking good

blueberry bushes are loaded
I see blueberry pancakes in our future

grapevines are loaded also

car woes -- this mean ole big ole truck

whammed into my once pretty car

It would really help if Dooley would look in his rear view mirror before throwing his truck in reverse and stomping on the gas. Now to the repair shop we go this afternoon. I should have it back and beautiful once again by the end of the week.

White Wednesday

I'm joining Kathleen at Faded Charm for White Wednesday this week. I have one of Mom's white pineapple afghans she has made. They are 12 block afghans and are perfect to curl up with during these cold winter months. This particular one will be a wedding present for a friend's son.

just gorgeous

Purses

The need for purses. I don't have a purse to match all my shoes but I do have a purse for every occasion and season during the year. One of the many joys of shopping is finding a new purse on clearance for that special occasion that might come up.

my football purse
Go Vols
University of TN @ Knoxville

those delicate purses that look so good hanging up

that wonderful little black bag
perfect for that special evening

flea market purses to lighten my load
in order for all those great bargains

and then there are those for everyday use in my closet cabinet

drawer 1 holds the smaller size purses

drawer 2 has small purses

drawer 3 has medium size

and drawer 4 has larger sizes

And then of course not pictured are the large ones that hang in the back of my closet so they won't get messed up.

And then we have the accessories along with another small purse and lunchbag. There must be several different sizes of billfolds, cell phone holders, etc. in order to fit into the different size purses or your belt loops.

Oh the joy of shopping. Nothing is more fun than hitting those wonderful clearance racks at TJ Maxx and the department stores.

Stash & More Stash

There is nothing like buying more cross stitch floss, material and speciality fibers even when you already have plenty. A sale is nice but not really necessary when you find something new that just has to be added to your collection of stash. Our extra room has gotten so full with all my cross stitch supplies along with all of Mom's crochet thread we found on sale last year. Not shown are her trunks and boxes full of thread.

dmc floss stored in my 2 drawer antique thread cabinet

boxes to hold additional speciality fibers, silk thread
and a small trunk to hold bookmark supplies

drawers for extra floss and material
found on sale

expandable folders for evenweave material by counts
these are hidden behind a cabinet door

more projects waiting their turn

4 drawer file cabinet
with all my cross stitch books
organized by subjects

cross stitch hardback books
and more containers
to hold trims, beads and scissors

and last but not least
the bookcase that holds
most of the hardback books for
cross stitch, needlepoint and quilting

Now to find the time to sit and enjoy looking for new projects to work on and even more important the time to sit and stitch.
