Waiting for Spring

you can see the house now

The tree trimmers for the power company came by last month to trim our big trees and offered to cut down the row of bushes we had in front that were mostly dead and full of honeysuckle and poison ivy.  Mom took them up on their offer since it was free and they were able to do it that morning.  Sure saved us a lot of work!

Snow

Early Morning Shots

For the second time in a row we have a bit of snow on the ground and none on the roads.  So far we've had ice twice on everything but the roads.  Wonder how much longer we can be so lucky!

Daffodils & My Helper

We've had some wonderfully warm weekends but are now back in the teens for morning lows.  What a difference a day makes!

black weed x paper and 4" of rock

they are very determined daffodils!

Bella looking for rocks

I found stuff Momma Sandy

Late Sunday morning was fairly decent weather wise so Bella and I took a walk along the edge of the woods behind our house.   She was thrilled to be able to find her treasures and told me we need to take her wagon next time so she can find more!

Planting for Spring

This past weekend was another perfect one weather wise, in the high 60s Saturday and low 70s on Sunday. The weekend before was very cold and before that gorgeous.  I skipped working in the garden on the cold weekend but did finish my planting of bulbs in pots Saturday.  Every pot that had annuals over the summer now has bulbs for this spring.

50 mixed dutch iris

108 radiant perfection tulips

24 angelique tulips

24 margarita tulips

and 36 pink hyacinths

I can't wait for spring to get here and see all our beautiful blooms.  All my bulbs came from Walmart this year as they were marking them down on clearance faster than Lowe's and Home Depot.

I am taking a break and will be back the first of the year.  I hope everyone has a Very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year.  See you in 2013.

Projects Finished & Ready for Winter

last of the flowers blooming

elephant ears & tuber roses
dried out and stored

cap on telephone pole
ready for handing basket next year

other cap done also
ready for handing basket to be mounted

stock tank water garden
cleaned out and ready

lots of mulch put down

more mulch on other side of garden

train for Bella

3 tubs of rock to finish new pathway

2nd new pathway looking
from inside the garden out

same new pathway looking
from outside the garden in

We've gotten so much done in the garden this year and it is starting to look like a flower garden once again instead of a weed patch with flowers.  We managed to get 2 new pathways created and rocked, about 1/2 the garden is mulched so we will still have plenty to do next year.  We are ready for winter to arrive and leave so spring will be here once again.

Happy Thanksgiving
from our family to yours
