One Project Down

The seating area is finished in the back of the garden.  Now we can move onto other projects, cleaning up and weeding.  Sure seems never ending at times.

We had a very nice Saturday temperature wise and managed to get the shed cleaned out and better organized.  I had plans to dig holes for our telephone poles but the forecast said rain early in the afternoon. We headed out early in the morning and about that time it started sprinkling so we worked in the shed and got the truck loaded for the dump.

Sunday was a very wet day.  The rain finally moved in late Saturday evening and by the time Monday morning arrived our rain gauge had 6 1/2" of rain in it.  We had puddles where we've never had puddles before.  Thank goodness we are on top of a hill.  Now we are back in the 80s and sunny starting today through the weekend. Hopefully it will stay that way and we can get a lot done in the garden.

Yard Sale Treasures

We seen an ad for a yard sale last Friday morning.  Mom and Bella were there when they started and found these 2 concrete pots for $20 each.  Score a bit hit for us.  Last summer we found the columns at a moving sale for $25 ea.  The new pots fit perfectly and look great.

Bartzella Itoh Peony
found at Lowe's for $29.99
such a steal we got 3

I sure hope the rest of the summer comes with more great bargains like we just found.

We had storms roll through Sunday evening and they dropped 2 1/4" of rain and hail.  We sure needed the rain but not that fast and sure didn't need any hail.  A cool front has come through now and the temps will be in the 70s the rest of the week.  Awesome weather for sure.

After a couple of weeks in the 70s with a few colder days thrown in we are back in the 80s this week and it is wonderful.  The garden is full of beauty and blooms.  It is such a joy to work in and sit in our new patio by the stock tank.

More Peonies

Saturday we spent a good part of our day at Iris City Gardens in Primm Springs, TN.  It was a very cold and wet day but we sure had a blast.  The peonies and iris' were in full bloom and their flower beds were magnificient. We of course had to come home with some new peonies.

New Sitting Area Under the Bald Cypress Trees

April has been every bit as wonderful as the month of March with 70s and 80s for daily temps. This would have been a perfect year to take the months of March and April off from work.

April is for Peonies

The month of March came in like a lamb and went out like a kitten. What a wonderful way to start the month of April. We have all our tree peonies blooming and a beautiful site it is. But first the newest addition to our garden:
