We used to have 3 of these beautiful rhododendrons across the front of our house. We have lost 2 so far and only have this one remaining in all it's glory.

Garden & Car Woes
This past weekend was beautiful, sunny and hot. We were in the high 80s and no rain at all. What a nice change. We managed to get the yards mowed, some plantings done and created enough sweat to water some flowers. On Sunday the wind did not stir at all, made for a very hot and humid day, just like the middle of summer. Supposed to stay this way all week.

New Life
Our old shed has been given new life. This is our biggest and we store everything but mowers in it and would be in dire straights without it. The guys came, measured, ordered and had it finished in 2 1/2 days. We are so happy, now we are ready for the next 30 years or so.
I also have some pictures of our Louisiana iris from our garden and Jennifer's garden.
big old white beauty
another gorgeous beauty from Jennifer's house
We are supposed to have more rain move in tonight and all day tomorrow then a clear and sunny weekend. I sure hope the weather people are right. We could sure use a full weekend to work in the garden. The weeds are growing faster than we can keep up with them.

More Peonies for Friday
I thought I might as well finish out the week with more peonies. These are 2nd year bushes and they are all blooming great. We only had 5 new ones left that haven't bloomed and hopefully they will next year.
beautiful coral color
Peonies are one of our favorite flowers and we have plenty of them around the house and in the flower garden. The house and gardens are spectacular this time of year. We even have a few late bloomers that are just now starting to show their buds.

Mother's Day Peonies
On Friday I ran by our local Kroger grocery store to check out their newest plant additions and found this glorious peony "Sword Dance". I couldn't get to the check out fast enough with one of them. I called Mom to tell her about it so she checked out the other Kroger on her way home from Randy's house. Needless to say they didn't have any so she called me to go back and get 2 more as 3 would make a much bigger impact in our garden.
Sword Dance
just opening
We planted all 3 together in front of my reading corner fence by the driveway. Now everyone driving by our house can enjoy these beautiful blooms as much as we do.
Sword Dance - with true red petals and a cluster of yellow and red streaked stamens is how this peony is described. I would not call these blooms red by any means but a dark pink and the stamens are gorgeous. They look like there were dipped in a bucket of yellow paint. Just beautiful.
