Dog Days of Summer

And it is only June 9

After a very nice, rainy and cool April and May our temps have been 90+ for the last 12 days and the 7 day forecast is more of the same. We have had no rain and lots of thunder last night with again no rain. The forecast has spotty showers but so far they have all missed our flower garden and don't look promising for the next 7 days. It is now time to pull out the garden hoses and sprinklers and let them get to work.

You could hear the flowers weeping with joy as the water began to fall and I'm sure we will be weeping when we receive our water bill next month. I see much more of this in our future to keep the garden alive.

  1. i know the hot/dry feeling... i don't bother to grow many plants and i let the grass crackle away under foot.

  2. Our water bill is stratospheric every summer, despite five rain barrels. But not watering would be the end to my garden and I can't bear that, so I water and water and water! Your garden looks great! Very welcoming! :o)

  3. Oh, yes, I know the feeling! Hard to believe, but we were in the 90's for only two days this week which broke records for WI and I was amazed at how much everything dried up. We've been very wet and unseasonably cold til now, and I too, got the sprinklers out. Today we are having some cold (50 degrees) drizzle which I'm glad to see. I hope your weather turns more gentle soon, it is so frustrating to see the clouds come and hear thunder and yet no rain.

Thank you so much for your kind comments on my blog, gosh, I appreciated them so much.
